Who We Are
PurePath is operated by PurePath Inc. ('we,' 'us,' or 'our'), a company registered in Canada. The App is designed to help consumers understand potential microplastic and chemical exposure risk in their home environments through AI-assisted room scanning and personalised recommendations.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use PurePath. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using the App you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements. We reserve the right to refuse access to anyone at any time.
License to Use
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, PurePath grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the App on Apple iOS devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the App;
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code;
- Sell, sublicense, rent, lease, or transfer your rights under this licence;
- Use the App in any unlawful manner or for any unlawful purpose;
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks in the App.
How the App Works
PurePath uses your device camera to capture images of rooms in your home. Those images are processed by an AI model to identify materials present (e.g., cookware, bedding, bathroom fixtures) and estimate potential microplastic or chemical exposure risk. The App generates:
- A per-room Exposure Score (0–100);
- A whole-home weighted Exposure Score;
- A material analysis and Exposure Report;
- Personalised safe-swap product recommendations based on your scan results and behavioural questionnaire responses.
Scores and recommendations are probabilistic estimates derived from material science research and AI analysis of visual data. They are intended as educational guidance only. Results may vary based on image quality, lighting, room conditions, and the inherent limitations of AI-based visual analysis.
Camera & Photo Permissions
The App requires access to your device camera to perform room scans. By granting camera permission you acknowledge and agree that:
- Images captured during a scan are processed for the sole purpose of generating your Exposure Report and recommendations;
- We do not store your raw images on our servers beyond what is necessary to process your scan. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling;
- You are responsible for ensuring that any individuals visible in images you capture have consented to being photographed where required by applicable law;
- You should not scan areas containing sensitive personal documents, financial information, or anything you do not wish to be transmitted to our AI processing infrastructure.
You may revoke camera permission at any time through your device Settings. Revoking permission will prevent the core functionality of the App from operating.
User Accounts
Certain features of PurePath may require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete registration information and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@purepath.app if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated these Terms.

PurePath offers optional paid features through in-app purchases ('IAP') processed exclusively by Apple Inc. via the App Store. Current purchase options may include:

Your Apple ID account will be charged within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions at any time in your Apple ID Account Settings.
Free Trials. Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Price Changes. We may change subscription prices from time to time. Where permitted by law, we will provide reasonable notice of any price change. Continued use of the subscription after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
Refunds
Because all purchases are processed through the Apple App Store, refund requests are governed by Apple's refund policies. PurePath does not directly issue refunds. To request a refund please visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support. We are unable to override Apple's refund decisions.
No Medical or Safety Advice
PurePath is an informational tool, not a medical device. Nothing in the App — including Exposure Scores, Exposure Reports, material analyses, or safe-swap recommendations — constitutes medical, clinical, occupational health, or environmental safety advice. The App does not:
- Diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition;
- Replace consultation with a physician, toxicologist, environmental health specialist, or other qualified professional;
- Guarantee that any product, material, or environment is safe or unsafe for any individual.
Exposure to microplastics and chemicals is a complex and evolving area of scientific research. Our scoring methodology is based on currently available peer-reviewed literature and may not reflect the most recent findings. Always seek professional advice before making decisions that could affect your health or the health of others.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PurePath, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data, revenue, profits, or business;
- Personal injury or property damage arising from your use of or reliance on information provided by the App;
- Errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in AI-generated scan results or recommendations;
- Any interruption, suspension, or termination of the Service.
In jurisdictions where limitation of liability for personal injury is not permitted, this limitation shall not apply to personal injury claims. In all other cases, our total liability to you for all claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to PurePath in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) CAD $100.

These third parties operate under their own terms of service and privacy policies. PurePath is not responsible for the practices of any third-party service provider.
Safe-swap product recommendations may include links to or references to third-party products. PurePath does not endorse or guarantee any third-party product, and any purchase you make from a third party is solely between you and that seller.

Termination
These Terms remain in effect until terminated. You may stop using the App at any time. We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without notice or liability, if you breach any provision of these Terms or if we decide to discontinue the App.
Upon termination, your licence to use the App ceases immediately. Sections 9 (No Medical Advice), 10 (Limitation of Liability), 11 (Disclaimer of Warranties), 12 (Intellectual Property), and 18 (Governing Law) survive termination.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the App shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If the parties cannot reach resolution within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Toronto, Ontario, conducted in English under the applicable rules of ADR Institute of Canada, except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm.
If you are a consumer resident in a jurisdiction that does not permit mandatory arbitration or waiver of class actions, this section shall not apply to you to the extent prohibited by applicable law.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable under applicable law, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or if that is not possible, severed from the Terms. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
